The Journal of Executive Learning, Information and Knowledge.
Management Today is the only magazine in South Africa which is positioned as a source of management learning, information and knowledge. In this regard, we concentrate both on the career manager, the senior (part-time) student who is in full-time employment studying for an MBA, university students taking management or business administration, and those participating in an executive programme or other relevant course. The journal is now in its 29th volume and started under the title of Human Resource Management before its name change in 1997 at which time the editorial focus moved sufficiently towards the more strategic and leadership issues in business to justify the new title. It was started by Richard Havenga & Associates in 1985, but is now under the ownership of Alan de Sousa Caires and his team.
Although based in Johannesburg, South Africa, the magazine has a wide international appeal to all students and managers globally.
The Editorial Policy
Management Today concentrates its editorial content on three main areas namely management development, leadership and business strategy. Editorial is sourced locally and overseas with the aim being to benchmark these articles internationally while maintaining their local relevance. Key issues in the South African business environment are addressed in addition to interviews with business leaders and internationally renowned management and leadership thinkers. Case studies on local companies feature regularly as this is one area where practical information and knowledge are in short supply both for students and managers.
The magazine also regularly features innovation and technology as these are key business aspects in the 21st Century.
