GIBS launches new creativity course

The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) is gearing up to launch the very first edition of Lead for Creative Thinking: an online course for forward-thinking leaders ready to develop a more responsive and innovative culture.

The World Economic Forum has put creativity at the top of the list of skills that will grow in importance over the next five years. Successful leaders of the future need to understand how creative intelligence works and how to establish an environment in which the creative thinking of all employees in all parts of the business can thrive.

In this simple, scientific, and practical course, you’ll learn to model your own creative thinking, understand what drives an innovative culture, and identify which levers to pull to create an environment that is most conducive to creativity and innovation. Before you can lead others to think more creatively, you need to understand your own creativity. This course begins with leading yourself and includes assessments of your mindset and creative thinking style. From this foundation, you will build your plan to lead others to enhanced creativity using the levers of culture, processes, and environments.

This course is specifically designed for executives who have a vision for equipping their organisations to compete and thrive in complex environments, including leaders who seek to develop a culture of creativity and foster collaborative problem-solving across siloes. This course would also be ideal for managers who are tasked with furthering an innovation agenda, as well as professionals who want to expand their toolkit for innovative problem-solving and creative thinking.

The lead faculty for this course are Nina Pearse and Celia Falkenberg: Nina Pearse is a dynamic and creative facilitator with a vision to transform business and society by helping people tap into their creativity. Nina has an honours degree in business science from the University of Cape Town. She is an Agile Talent professional, an associate of the NeuroLeadership Institute and a qualified Insights facilitator. Celia Falkenberg is a creative educator and architect. She believes that all humans are inherently creative. As co-founder of Creativity Wake-Up, her passion and purpose is to inspire and equip people to bring into being, creative solutions to challenges and opportunities. She has an Honours Degree in Architecture from the University of Cape Town and graduated with distinction with a Master’s Degree in Housing and Urbanisation from the Architectural Association in London.

The Lead for Creative Thinking online course officially launches on 17 October 2024. It will last 6 weeks, ending on 28 November 2024, and requires 3 hours of study per week. Applications are currently open, and interested individuals and teams can apply via https://www.gibs.co.za/programmes/lead-for-creative-thinking.
