Corporate Governance Conference 2022

The Corporate Governance Conference 2022 provides an excellent opportunity for researchers, academics, practitioners and doctoral students to present their research, share their experience and discuss new and challenging issues in corporate governance.

The conference is linked to a special issue of the South African Journal of Business Management. Subsidy bearing proceedings of the Corporate Governance Conference 2022 will also be published, but only full-length papers qualify. The conference is in-person, with a virtual option for exceptional cases. We encourage delegates to attend in person, to allow for enhanced engagement and collaboration.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor at the Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town, a Visiting Professor at Rhodes and is currently a Professor at the Wits Business School at the University of the Witwatersrand.

He is the Patron of The Good Governance Academy, currently housed in the Wits Business School in Parktown Ridge.

He is the author of six books on governance, sustainability and reporting, the latest being “The Healthy Company” and sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally.

She is a lawyer by training having received a BA LLB from the University of Stellenbosch and an LLM (with first class honors) from Cambridge University and joined the JSE after a number of years at Webber Wentzel where she was a partner.

Nicky was a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and South Africa’s Businesswoman of the Year in 2003. In 2021, Nicky was honoured with an LLD (honoris causa) from Stellenbosch University. She is a non executive director of the Investec Group and has just joined the University of Stellenbosch Council.
