Health Insurance 3.0

The private healthcare system in South Africa faces many challenges, including a shortage of health professionals, a fragmented healthcare system, an increasing burden of disease and costs that are rising at faster than consumer inflation. Addressing these challenges requires an innovative, comprehensive and systematic approach to healthcare reform. By applying the lessons from international practices, an emerging framework can be constructed which includes the following elements:

  • Innovative risk management: Creating strategic assets and deploying alternate reimbursement methods that embrace risk sharing contracts with healthcare providers.
  • Data driven continuous improvement: Incorporating digital tools, big data analytics, and the tools of health system improvement to improve the quality and efficiency of our healthcare system.
  • Integrated care based on teamwork: Building appropriate teams of healthcare practitioners to ensure optimal use of expertise and integrated care.
  • Patient centred care: Ensuring the patient is at the centre of every element of the healthcare system.

Discovery Health’s CEO, Dr Jonathan Broomberg will discuss this emerging framework, and how it can be applied in the South African context.

This regular and well-attended event in the Johannesburg business calendar offers our guests the opportunity to interact with prominent business, political and social personalities in South Africa and the opportunity to broaden your business and social networks at the post presentation cocktails. Seating is limited and it is essential that you book, so please advise as soon as possible if you are able to attend.
We look forward to seeing you there!
